Not enough lats

Pull Drill - Focus will be on learning to 'catch' the water with your forearm and pull yourself through the water. If you feel your lats (the muscles under your arm pits that go down the side of your back) engage, then you are starting to get it. If your shoulders are tired, then you are still using too much shoulder and not enough lats.

This from my BT training plan by Coach AJ of D3 Multisport.

I think I've been using too much shoulder. Gonna work on that in the a.m.

P.S. Yay for the Giants!!

Yep, Yah is right!
The "little" brother got his ring!
Had to break my "no caffeine" streak to make it to work. :)

I tried that drill at a swim clinic but did not understand what it was doing. That makes sense!

That is the idea. I baught a video for Triathlon Swimming, and it demonstrated it quite well. it was a great help for teaching me how to control my drownding. I was doing a morning swim this past summer at the Y and the lifeguard went and got me a kickboard and said she thought I might want it. I told her that she did it so she would not have to jump in and rescue me and give me CPR.
