Yep, that's right! It made my day. I am very insecure about my swimming and cycling abilities...especially since I am a "runner turned triathlete". It's not so easy to take up 2 new sports at age 28 (last year) while living in a town where there is a total of 4 triathletes. And that includes myself, Michele who turned triathlete last summer, and Kim who did her first triathlon this past Memorial Day. Actually, the only person I had to consult was Leslie - an old friend and basketball teammate from High School. Granted, Leslie is an awesome triathlete with a wealth of information, but she's also very busy and trains at different times than my schedule usually permits. So anyways, today Michele, Kim and I rode with Ray and Tisha (Kim's real cyclist friends). We rode the same hills I rode Monday, and on our way back at the top of the last hill Ray said "Man, you have some awesome climbing ability!" I was like "Huh? Me? Surely not." But he said he was serious. You just never know where the next source of motivation will come from...but I got my dose this morning! Sweet! Afterwards, I ran 1 mile with Michele in 8:11.
Yesterday, Holly and I ran our normal 5.2 mile loop through town in 44:51 (8:37 pace). OMG it was a BEAUTIFUL morning to run. The air was crisp and cool and SO easy to breath. One of those days where you really appreciate being able to get out and run. Holly and I saw several deer. Afterwards, I had a short swim...2x500 yards. One of them in 10:57 and the other in 10:53. It took me a long time to feel balanced and comfortable again. It seems like I don't get in the groove until after 400 meters or so. Oh well.

Nice! You must be training right.
Man...what a workout. I'm impressed.
Try turning triathlete at 36.
Great ride this morning and thanks for running with me you helped set a great pace.
Sounds like you had a good swim yesterday morning too. Where do you think we can find a swim expert around here? I need some pointers.
Michele - about the swim expert, the only one I know of is Jerry Crites, Kimberly Hillis's Dad...he helped me get started last year. I think he used to teach swimming at Motlow.

If a "real" cyclist said it, it must be true.
tell me your hill climbing secrets ;)
Great job on those hills!
Real cyclists are always impressed with triathletes :-) We can barely walk and chew gum at the same time, much less run and swim!!! :-)
Not sure if this help. I think u have a more advantage than those "swimmer turn tri"....u don't see anyone win from a swim. But in the run, u can chase anyone down. Also by the run, ppl start to tired out. That's when you really can shine.
Nice! As more of a natural swimmer than runner, I'm still waiting for a real runner to compliment me on my running form.
Nice pace on the 5.2 mile run!
As for the swimming, if you are out of the pool for more than about 2 days, even the best swimmers take a few minutes to get their form.
Great workouts! Compliments really are wonderful motivators!!
Yeah I hear you on the taking up two new sports...as that is me this year at 29. I wish swimming did not seem so much harder than biking to pick up!
Good luck at Moon Pie this weekend!! You are going to do AWESOME!
Good Luck Saturday at the Moon Pie!
Did you stay seated while climbing?
