Stop Hitting SNOOZE

I've been getting my workouts in lately, but I'm still not getting up early like I should. I finally did an early morning workout yesterday - I met D, who is getting ready for his first tri, and H at the rec center @7 a.m. for a 1 hour and 20 minute ride, and then I put my running shoes on and ran home since my plan said for me to do a brick. I think we ended up with about 22 miles on the bike and then I stretched my run out to 3 miles in 26:20. It felt so good to do a brick. That's not normally something I would say, but I was ready for it yesterday. The weather was nice, and we saw turkey, deer, and a skunk in one big field during the ride.

I also had a really good run Saturday. Bo had another T-ball game at 9 a.m. (we won again!!!), and then Briar had games at 11:00 and 1:00(Briar won too!!!), and I had to leave for my Grandmother's 85th birthday party @ 1:00. We got back from the party around 6:00, and I got dressed and set out for 8.26 miles. I had planned on doing this run at 5:30 Saturday morning, but once again I turned off the alarm. I've got to quit doing that. It's like a disease. But I did get the run in anyways, and I felt great the entire time. I didn't wear my HR monitor, but I wish I had've because I am sure I stayed at Zone 2 and below, and endedup with a 9:19 pace. I really felt like I was running 10 minute miles, but everytime I looked down it would be in the low 9's or high 8's. I was able to finish really strong. This is a step in the right direction, as the some of the runs I've had lately have left me frustrated and unmotivated. So...I'm making a comeback.

Friday I had to do my run at the rec center on the treadmill, and then swim. It went okay. I ran 40 minutes and swam 50 minutes. Nothing special.

I won't go back any further, but the rest of the week went pretty well except for the fact that I'm staying up too late and not getting up early. I have even found myself getting up and being awake when the alarm sounds, but then I go back to bed and after a few times hitting the snooze button, I end up feeling very tired when I finally have to get up. I am certain that I would be better off just going ahead and getting up at the first sound of the alarm. Besides, there really is just no other feeling like being out running or on your bike and seeing the sun come up over a beautiful spring morning. I want that. Do I want it bad enough? We'll see.

Bo plays again tonight. We're going for win #3.

You're not alone. I hit snooze for the first time in months today. I feel so guilty (Joe hangs head in shame).

I will be at the pool in the morning, if you want to join me. Nothing like knowing someone is waiting on you to get you up and out of bed.

I do that -- wake up feeling awake, think "There's no reason to get up yet," try to doze back off, finally succeed, then wake up feeling tired. You're right. Best to get up.

"Stop Hitting SNOOZE" -- what a great life slogan!!

Glad to hear your run is going well. Maybe go to bed earlier and you might feel better waking up earlier. Good luck. I would love to watch the sun rise too. We'll see who does it first. Let me know or I'll let you know when I do it.

Even with hitting the snooze, it sounds like you're doing pretty good Lana.

Nice workouts Lana. I wish I lived in a place were I could wake up in the morning and feel safe enough to workout...I have to drive to another city to do anything. And could you do anymore on a Saturday?!?!?! Jeez.

Yeah I think we all hit the snooze every now and then. But I know sometimes I don't even set the alarm and catch up on my sleep.
