Sleeping, and sleeping, and more sleeping

I have been sleeping 9 - 10 hours a night now for almost 2 weeks. I can't get enough! Good grief, it's not like I'm training for an Ironman...or even a HALF Ironman. I don't know what my deal is. The Mental Fortitude Meter is way low lately. Maybe it was the vacation...I don't know. Anyways, the only thing I did today was a hard 16 mile bike at lunch with a coworker who really pushed me. Yesterday, I swam 2000 yds while the kids were doing swimming lessons. And Tuesday, I actually had a good early morning workout. So good that I pulled something my quad, but it's feeling better now. I ran 4 miles to the rec center, went in and had a super strength workout, including lunges, and then the 2 miles back home. I discovered that running after doing lunges sorta feels like biking after lunges. Ofcourse, I am still sore from that one. Monday I rested, other than a leisurly 11 mile bike with Briar, who is in training for his youth tri on Aug 5th.

I have decided not to do the Sundrop Triathlon this weekend that is on my Race Schedule. I am feeling a little bit tired, and maybe a little bit of burn out...so I am going to skip that one. I need to take a step back and re-evaluate my goals for the rest of the year anyways. Plus, I am going to trade in some of my training time to work with Briar more on his swimming, biking and running. His triathlon, for the next 2.5 weeks or so, is going to be my priority.

Glad the leg is feeling better.

You've had some great workouts this week. And here I thought you had just been sleeping in!!! :-)

That's cool to focus on your son's Tri :-) I took 3 weeks off running last July to help my son get ready for a cycling event. We were riding almost daily. It was totally worth it!!! :-) Good luck and have fun!!

It should be fun working with Briar, plus, like you said, the break will probably do you good.

I think we all need a break sometimes. Good luck helping your son with his training, he will do GREAT!

So cool you can train with your son. Will this be his first tri? Keep us posted with his training and race results. Enjoy your rest and recovery.

This will be Briar's 2nd tri. He did this one last year, and it was his first then. He actually got 2nd place in his age group last year! He'll moving up to the 9-10 age group this year, though. I'll keep you posted for sure!
